About
We help families stop scam calls in time
Phone scams against older adults rarely start with a hacked computer. They start with a call: a «grandson» in jail, a «bank» seeing fraud, an «IRS agent» with a warrant. FamilyDefender is built for that moment.
What we do
FamilyDefender is a phone app for US families. Unknown calls to a parent are checked automatically while they happen. If a call looks risky, the parent hears a short warning and their adult child gets an alert with an «End call» button. Checked automatically. No person listens. Nothing is recorded.
FamilyDefender helps spot scams but cannot catch every one. The parent installs the app and gives consent themselves. This is help from family, not monitoring.
Editorial policy
Our articles and scam guide exist to help families recognize scam calls, whether or not they use our app.
- Real cases only. Every case we describe is documented by a public source: the FTC, FBI, Justice Department, a state attorney general, another government agency or a major news outlet. We link those sources at the end of each article.
- No invented details. We don’t make up victims, quotes or amounts. When we show how a call sounds, the lines are typical scripts reported by officials, not a recording of a real person.
- Official numbers. Statistics come from official reports and name the year and the source.
- Dates. Each article shows when it was published and when it was last updated.
- Corrections. If you spot a mistake, write to support@familydefender.app. We fix errors and update the date.
- Not legal or financial advice. If money was lost, contact your bank, local police and the official reporting channels listed in our guides.
